Pronunciation tips I
This lesson is going to show us useful tips and tricks that help us with our pronunciation.
People are usually struggling with pronunciation on their way to fluency. But there are rules that can help us pronounce better. One way or another, the more you study, read and listen, the better your pronunciation habits will be.
Today we are going to talk about pronunciation tips and tricks that make us sound more confident and native.
Let’s divide vowels into two groups for today’s lesson. These two groups consist of: SOFT and HARD vowels:
SOFT vowels
e, i, y, ä, ö
HARD vowels
a, o, u, å
Why is it useful to distinguish between the hard and the soft vowels then? It helps us pronounce the “soft” and “hard” words properly.
The “soft” words are for example: GET, GIFT, GÄST or att GÖRA. And to the “hard-words” group belong for instance the following words: GATA, GODIS, GURKA.
