Interjections
Today’s lesson is going to shed some light on interjections in the Swedish language.
Hello and welcome to MySwedish learning corner again! Today we are going to talk about very important parts of speech — INTERJECTIONS.
An interjection is a part of a speech which expresses emotions and feelings of a person. It is very common that they come first in the sentence and are usually marked off by a comma.
When answering to a positive yes/no question use JA/NEJ as in the example below:
Tänker du gå på bio?
JA/NEJ.
If you want to express strong agreement use JAVISST and if you want to show that you are surprised or disinterested say JASÅ.
If you want to stress a positive response to a question that assumes a negative answer use JO!
Du tänker väl inte gå på bio?
JO! (Jag tänker att gå dit).
